Based at Company 3 London, Senior Colorist Paul Staples brings over two decades of experience crafting and finetuning imagery on major episodic projects, including Amazon Prime’s Wilderness, which The Guardian calls a “fun, fun, fun revenge thriller.” A list of other recent shows would include international hits The Great and Peaky Blinders, the multiple-BAFTA-Award-winning Time, the highly praised detective series Grace, and the long-running audience favorite Silent Witness. Having spent several years as part of high-end VFX teams, he has developed a deep understanding of quickly blending complex CGI and digital matte seamlessly with live-action material, which he frequently does on historical shows with extensive set and location extension work.

Staples’ fascination with visual art took off when he studied still photography at Parmiter’s School just outside London, where he learned to master the art of shooting and printing. He then parlayed his knowledge into some early cinematography work, where he learned skills he’s applied to all his work since. His fascination with the post aspect of image creation led him to work at Todd-AO, where he quickly worked his way up from tape op to dailies colorist to final colorist for a wide range of commercials, documentaries, promos, and dramatic programming.
