Company 3 Welcomes… Clyde Kellett
February 2, 2023 Feb. 2, 2023Clyde Kellett joins the Company 3 Global team as Senior Finishing Editor, based out in London. Joining the business in October 2022, Clyde comes to Company 3 with over 20 years’ experience.
After graduating with a degree in ‘Film & Video’ from Portsmouth University (England), Clyde started his career as a runner, where he worked up the ranks to a Junior Editor position, before his final position as Senior Editor. In his role as Senior Editor Clyde worked across a variety of platforms including Grass Valley DS and Flame.
To mark Clyde joining Company 3, we sat down with him to ask a few questions to get to know him better.
What made you interested in becoming an editor?
In my first position as a runner, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to explore different career paths. One path that took my interest was finishing. Those days the suites were massive, with a hundred monitors and massive desks, it just looked like a fun thing to get involved with. And so, I sat in with the editors at the end of my shift and that’s where my passion for finishing truly began. What I truly loved is the fact that it’s an almost invisible craft that adds so much value to a final piece.
What exciting projects have you previously worked on?
One of the biggest projects I onlined was Downton Abbey, which from there got me into doing a lot of other period pieces due to its distinct style, such as All Creatures Great and Small. More recent project highlights include Red Rose, which was for BBC and Netflix, then Outlaws, which was BBC and Amazon.
Have you always wanted to work in film and tv?
Originally, I wanted to work in music as I was a musician in a band and had a keen interest in sound. However, after being in a band and working in audio suites I realized it really wasn’t for me, and that’s when I decided to switch over.
Finally, are there any words of advice you would give to someone wanting to get into this industry?
I think the main thing is for you to really understand what it is you are wanting to do. Early in my career I was fortunate enough to explore different avenues, and from that I discovered that finishing was where I wanted to be. And I would suggest this to anyone, you may have an idea of what you want, but once you try it, it may not be for you, as I discovered with sound. So, take the time to understand what it is you want to do, and whether you like doing it.
