Shōgun & Baby Reindeer Make Emmy History
September 17, 2024 Sep. 17, 2024Shōgun, graded by Jill Bogdanowicz, swept the 76th Emmy Awards on Sunday and continues to make Emmy history. Television’s biggest night honored a variety of new and diverse shows as well as some beloved favorites. Father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy hosted the event at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, which aired live on ABC.
The FX drama was the biggest winner this year, after 14 awards last weekend at the Creative Arts ceremony and four on Sunday night: the show took home Outstanding Drama Series, in addition to awards for lead actor Hiroyuki Sanada, lead actress Anna Sawai, and Director Frederick E.O. Toye. The historical epic set in feudal Japan went into the 76th Emmy Awards with the most nominations of any other show this year with 25 nods, so it was no surprise to see the series come out on top.
The hugely popular Netflix series Baby Reindeer, graded by Simon Bourne, won six limited series awards, including a best actor statuette for its creator and lead actor, Richard Gadd.
