Senior Colorist Bill Ferwerda is a talented artist and highly collaborative partner with an extensive career in film, television, music video, and commercial postproduction. He is recognized for his ability to enhance, manipulate, and push the boundaries of color grading to help create exceptional images. Current episodic credits include the 15 Emmy award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale (Netflix), multiple award-winning Halo (Paramount+) and multiple BAFTA nominee Silo (Apple TV+). Recent feature films include award-winning Crimes of the Future and The Shrouds by director David Cronenberg and Ethan Hawke-directed Wildcat and Blaze.
Born and raised in nearby London, Ontario, Ferwerda moved to Toronto to pursue his filmmaking interest and a postproduction career. He quickly became fascinated by the control a colorist could have on an image and was impressed with how creative, technical, and collaborative the process is. This keen interest is still evident as Ferwerda continues to pursue his passion to perfect the art and technique of color grading.
Ferwerda has worked on multiple Emmy, Cannes Lions and Clio award winning projects. His industry recognitions include two HPA nominations for Outstanding Color Grading, seven Bessie Gold Craft awards, two IMA finalist awards for Best Color Correction and the prestigious Bob Mann Award for lifetime achievement and creative contribution to the post production industry.
