Finishing Editor

Chris Doerr

Finishing Editor Chris Doerr has been with the company since joining in 2010 as a vault runner for (then sister company) EFilm and has risen through a range of editorial roles into to his current position as a Senior Finishing Editor for features, working on major feature films including Gina Prince-Bythewood’s epic The Woman King, and Damian Chazelle’s beautifully cinematic Babylon.

Doerr’s creative and technical journey began with scanning dailies and data I/O for trailers where he took the opportunity to master color grading tools such as DaVinci Resolve and 2D VFX packages like Flame from the company’s top trailer colorists and finishing editors at the time. He jumped at the chance to become a Flame editor for trailers where his skills were honed to match the efficiency and care needed across composite work, client management, and managing deliverables. Following his move to features, he became a leader in the transition from Flame to Resolve as the company’s primary editorial tool. He has worked as a Finishing Editor for features since 2018.

Doerr grew up in Elko, Nevada immersed in music and always intent on a career involving creative work. Prior to finding his niche in post, he worked as a freelance still photographer. Drawn to the process of shooting, lighting, building sets and retouching, he was always energized by working collaboratively on creative projects — something he continues to enjoy about his editorial work today. As a continued lover of music, he finds the best way to describe the work of the finishing editor is by comparing it to the magic final stages of mastering an album.
