Finishing Editor Darren Hinchy started at Company 3 in 2022, following a stint in that position at SIM (now part of Picture Shop) and, before that, as a VFX editor at Mr. X (now part of MPC). Although Hinchy earned a Master’s Degree in Film Production from the National University of Ireland, Galway, he feels that this professional experience, more than anything else, thoroughly prepared him to excel at all the work he does at Company 3. Recent projects at the company include the Paramount + science fiction series Halo and the Netflix docudrama Painkiller.

Originally from Ireland, Hinchy has been fascinated by movies and TV from a young age, and as a teenager made his first “professional” project, a version of the popular TV show Jackass, which he called Jackarse. He even sold DVDs of these video exploits to fellow high school students. He likes to apply his editorial skills to complicated shows with intricate requirements that make him think outside the box. Hinchy enjoys working with clients to ‘put the cherry on top’ of their projects. This could involve titling, minor edit changes, or fixing something they thought was unfixable. A film or a show can really drain a client over the months and years that they work on it, and Hinchy is always happy to give them “pockets of elation” when they see what can be done at the final stage.
