Colorist

Patrick Devine

Patrick Devine has brought his keen eye and wealth of technical experience to his work as a colorist since joining Company 3 in 2019. He recently colored the “Emnity Djinn” episode of the powerful Netflix series African Folktales, Reimagined, he contributed to the grade of that streamer’s stark thriller Ripley and he brought his unique touch to such commercial work as “New York is Never Done” for Nike X NFL and “For All Time” featuring Walt Frazier for Puma. Devine is also quite proud of his work on indie feature A Perfect Day for Caribou, which played to acclaim at festivals including Locarno in Switzerland and Cork in Ireland. Devine has worked on several Coke spots — including “Super Connections” and “How’s the View?” — through Company 3’s partnership with Coca-Cola Refreshing Films, mentoring up-and-coming student filmmakers and providing in-studio color sessions.

Previously, he’d been with editorial and post company Sixteen19, which he joined at its inception as an engineer, setting up and maintaining complex offline editing and networking systems and subsequently moving up to the role of  finishing editor, where he handled conform duties and a large number of VFX for a wide variety of feature film, commercial and episodic TV work.

After a successful run in that position, he decided to pivot towards color grading, which focused more on the elements of visual storytelling that had first gotten him interested in the industry. A New York native, Devine studied film production, specifically cinematography, at Emerson College in Boston. Returning to New York to work in post-production, he developed a wide variety of skills that continue to inform his artistry as a colorist.
