Finishing Editor Ray Ruotolo started his career at Company 3 when he joined EFILM (since rebranded Company 3) in 2012. Over his extensive tenure, he has been an integral part of Company 3, working on many notable projects, including Netflix’s Stranger Things and Amazon Prime’s The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power. His expertise has evolved enormously as he has navigated various roles, including dailies editor, Data IO tech, assistant colorist, second colorist, and Trailer VFX artist. Ruotolo’s philosophy is that to excel in one’s role; it is vital to have a clear understanding of all related tasks — a belief that has shaped his approach to his role as a finishing editor.

From a young age, Ruotolo has been passionate about movies and TV. He could be found wielding a video camera as far back as grade school. This early enthusiasm for visual storytelling naturally progressed into a career in editing, a field in which he found his true calling. He likens the work of the finishing editor to that of a builder executing an architect’s blueprint to bring the client’s vision to life with precision and creativity.
