Company 3 was proud to partner with NYWIFT for their recent Masterclass Series: Post-Production. During the three-part virtual workshop, attendees discovered the history of the post-production process, the latest advancements in color correction technology, best practices for communicating with their post-team, and what to remember as they budget for the finishing touches on their films.

Company 3’s team of experts led each session, delving into specific areas:

Overall Picture

Margaret Lewis, VP of the New York Color Operation, led attendees on a historical journey through film finishing, exploring its evolution from traditional methods to the digital age. From the conform process and opticals to post-VFX integration, the session emphasized the power of color in storytelling and the importance of often-overlooked deliverables.

The Magic of Color Correction

This session, led by our Imaging Engineer, Emily Faw, explored the science behind color perception and its impact on viewers’ experience. Attendees learned how resolution, aspect ratio, and color can influence a film’s narrative and how to use these elements to shape their stories visually.

Budget for Picture Finishing

Chief Revenue Officer Jackie Lee led the third session and discussed the factors influencing the budget for picture finishing to ensure they get the most value for their post-production investment. Attendees gained valuable insights into navigating the landscape of deliverables and their associated costs and practical and cost-saving strategies for optimizing their resources and translating them into high-quality visual content on the screen.
