A Star-Studded Venice: Joker: Folie à Deux Premieres Alongside Four Must-See Films
September 5, 2024 Sep. 5, 2024Joker: Folie à Deux, one of the year’s most anticipated films, premiered Wednesday at the Venice International Film Festival. Theatergoers at the Sala Grande theater gave the movie, which stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, an 11-minute standing ovation. Folie à Deux is the follow-up to Director Todd Phillips’ 2019 film Joker, which also premiered at Venice, won the fest’s prestigious Golden Lion, and became the sixth-highest-grossing film of the year– Senior Colorist Jill Bogdanowicz graded both films.
The 81st Venice International Film Festival has been held on the Lido di Venezia since August 28 and will run until September 7, 2024. The annual festival aims to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all forms, including art, entertainment, and industry, in the spirit of freedom and dialogue. Company 3 is happy to have provided post-production services to five films premiering at this year’s festival.
Also in competition is The Order, an adaptation of Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt’s nonfiction book The Silent Brotherhood. It stars Jude Law as an FBI agent investigating the violent crimes of a white supremacist group. The film premiered this past Saturday and was color-graded by Senior Colorist Tom Poole.
Other festival highlights included the premieres of three new films: the dark comedy Three Keenings, graded by Colorist Patrick Devine; the Fentanyl crisis crime-thriller King Ivory, graded by Senior Colorist Joseph Bicknell; and the dystopian drama Happyend, graded by Senior Colorist Tim Masick.
